Chocolate is good for you!

This will be a quick update because we are busier than bees around here!

(Earth Day is Wednesday, April 22! Volunteer for the garden's Earth Day event! We have over 300 children coming and we can always use helpers!)

But this post isn't about being busy, it's about relaxing and treating yourself to a wonderful (somewhat) healthy indulgence. Anyone else have a super soft spot for chocolate? Well, I know you've all heard about the antioxidants and all that jazz, but how about chocolate that's good for the environment? So I was browsing through the organic/natural food section at Raley's the other day (yes this is how I spend my free time :) ). Naturally I gravitated towards the chocolate shelf and found, among the bars of Green&Black, a bar made by Seeds of Change. Seeds of Change is an organic seed and plant company that donates 1% of its net sales to sustainable organic agriculture projects worldwide. They also preserve the biodiversity of the world's food supply by creating one of the largest and most diverse organic seed stocks. Ironically the one seed company you can save seeds from is also the one company you'd want to give your money by buying more seeds! Anyway, back to the chocolate. Best. Chocolate. Ever. I tried the Playa del Coco; "an exotic blend of dark chocolate and coconut". Even the description is tantalizing.

So...buy the chocolate! I want Raley's to keep carrying it and I want Seeds of Change to make some money so they can give some back to sustainable agriculture and I want you, friend, to enjoy a lovely evening of chocolate bliss.
